Promoting and maintaining good occupational health practices is vital for protecting our employees, communities and the environment at large. This is one of the keys for sustainable business. We are aware that the impact of our health and safety practices transcends our immediate workforce and affect their family, dependents and society at large.

One of our key priorities is to oversee that our employees and contractors are shielded not only from physical injuries, but also from exposure to the potential occupational health hazards such as chemicals, physical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial hazards.

Our Strategy:

We follow three key occupational health objectives;
  • Health Risk Management – identifying, assessing and managing health risks to personnel in our operations and Implement risk-based workplace monitoring to comply with our standards and legal requirements, as a minimum, and determine controls to keep risk As Low As Reasonably Possible (ALARP)
  • Implement medical surveillance program – in compliance to local regulatory requirements and site occupational health risk profile;
  • Capability building and culture – ensuring that we have both the human and infrastructure capability, skills and services to manage risks;

How we work

We have a team of Occupational Health specialist, Industrial Hygienist and Senior Medical Coordinator who are responsible for occupational health management. Being in Fertilizer business, manufacturing process inherent characteristics invite potential exposure to various workplace health hazards such as chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial hazards. Our employees must be protected from such exposures through Occupational Health Management System.

Our approach for effective occupational health management is set out in our Integrated Management System Manual. Supporting this, we have a wide range of occupational health risk management procedures, guidelines, tools and information sheets. We conduct regular workplace health risk and exposure assessments of our operations to ensure that the risks to our employees are understood and improvement plans are developed to control the risks as needed Cases of occupational illness, health conditions and diseases are promptly reported using our incident reporting system and are subsequently investigated. Employee awareness is continually improved through various initiatives such as class room training sessions, e-campaigns and quizzes. Apart of this, ongoing audits increases effectiveness of occupational health management system.
